Digital Service Design course @ Haaga-Helia AMK

This page is a business card for the team Creative Corner. We are a group of digital service students that work on a case for the YTK company. The project's proceedings and outcome will be published here.


Meet the team

I have graduated from LAB AMK in 2016 with Hotel, Tourism and Restaurant Management degree. In 2021 I have started Business Information Technology bachelor degree at Haaga-Heliaa AMK with specialization in Digital Services . In January I have joined also Arcada AMK for Digital Content creation studies as an addition to my primer studies at Haaga-Helia. Right now I am in my 3rd year and looking forward to starting career as an IT professional.

I enjoy learning UX design as well as front-end development. I have worked with Js, React to build applications. To create prototypes and digital content I worked with Figma, Marvel tools, Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere.

I am Julia, a Business Information Technology student at Haaga-Helia University of applied sciences majoring in Digital services. That is not my first degree, I already have a Master’s degree in Economics with a specialty in International marketing and over a 10 years experience of working as a marketing manager in multicultural companies with international brands. I feel enthusiastic about combining my background with new technology skills, gained at Haaga-Helia.

I am passionate about creating the customer journey and creating better services by bringing the voice of the customer as a part of service development. Areas of my interest include here conducting user research, study user’s behaviour, mapping user experience, analysing and utilizing user information in design and testing and evaluating designs. I have gained hands-on experience through projects and coursework.

YTK company

Case requirements

The aim of the project is to create a new way to become a student member. Any channels and services can be used.

No need to take into consideration the current way of filling in the form on the YTK website.

Project steps

Introduction

Goal: Make user sign-up including the authentication process easier and quicker, and thus attract more users to join YTK services.

Attracting as many students as possible is the focus for the YTK company. However, it is out of the scope for Creative Corner Team during the Service Design course.

That is why, Creative Corner delivers solution on how to simplify and make the enrollment process more attractive and fun, so that more users would be joining the system with few clicks.

Four user personas were identified during user studies. For each persona one Empathy Map was created based on the interviews.

Service Blueprint
User Scenarios

Steps needed to make intentions of the users achievable:

  • Prerequisite: Students have Tuudo app. (does not depend on YTK or anyone else)
  • To spread an add on social media about YTK so that more students aware of it (not in the scope in this case project)
  • To integrate an YTK service into Tuudo
  • To automate pop-up windows for students depending on the their status such as newbies, students that already watched a video and clicked “remind me later”, students that have joined the student service see a reminder to join YTK Fund services once becoming employed.
Initial Mockups ideas

For the low-fidelity prototype Figma tool has been used to do mockups for initial screens.

For high-fidelity prototypes Figma tool will be used as well. However, high-fidelity prototype will follow the YTK brand colours, fonts, etc.

Initial Concept Presentation

Presentation goes through the steps that have been scheduled and assigned during the course.

Presentation covers only initial ideas for the future prototype. The feedback will help the team members to sort things out and move the project further.

Feedback from YTK representatives

The YTK representatives have requested the Creative Corner team to try integrating also HAKA log-in.
